//Fall 2026 cohort · applications close September 27

Apply to the Sprint Lab.

Sprint teams build production software for real companies, mentored by senior engineers, from October to the Innovation Sprint Lab Showcase on December 5. No fixed team leads: leadership rotates, so every member runs a sprint at some point. Any major, first-years welcome.

//How selection works

Two stages: apply, then interview.

  • 01Stage one: applyOne form, about ten minutes; applications close Sunday, September 27. Interviews are scheduled as applications come in, so early beats deadline.
  • 02Stage two: interviewA 30-minute conversation about how you build, across the table from the president of CS4Good, the president of the Data Club, or the lab's founder. Real interview practice either way; last year, 27 interviews for 15 spots.
  • 03Show up; it is requiredAttendance at every Tuesday session from the second one on (September 15) and at SprintHack on October 3 to 4 is required to join the lab. Check in with the room QR at each one.
  • 04Join a sprint teamSelected builders spend October to December inside a partner problem, shipping a weekly deliverable to their non-technical stakeholders and our CTO-in-Residence, and demo at the Innovation Sprint Lab Showcase, December 5. Not selected? You go on the waitlist automatically; spots open when teams re-form.

//Rotating leadership

Everyone leads, one sprint at a time.

This is how every fall 2025 team ran, and it is how yours will.

  • 01Every sprint has a sprint leaderTeams work in short agile sprints. One member leads each sprint: runs planning, keeps the board honest, and owns the demo and the retro.
  • 02The role hands off, it does not stickNear the end of a sprint the current leader helps pick the next one, and the incoming leader sits in on sprint planning before taking over. The goal: everyone runs at least one sprint before the Showcase.
  • 03Leaders get their own roomSprint leaders meet weekly with JP Burford, our CTO-in-Residence, and the program director: progress, blockers, and how professional teams actually run.

Tell us how you build.

Honest beats polished. Re-submitting with the same email updates your answers, so apply now and improve it later.

Technical or not: design, writing, domain knowledge, and organizing all count.
